Interview by Mon Chou Magazine

Hi Rajae! You are a civil engineer and contemporary expressionist artist, how can you put together these opposite worlds?
Hello dear! Your question triggered in me a remarkably interesting reflection. It goes back to one of the first questions we are confronted with in life, that is: what would you like to “be” when you are older? I always failed to answer that.  It is as if we asked me to settle for one side of my personality and deny the others. Since a young age I was attracted to science and arts, simplicity and sophistication and I loved to have the possibility to “be” it all. So, I grew up believing that we don’t have to fit into one social label and make it an exclusive lifetime choice. For me being an artist and an engineer comes back to allowing my personality to thrive without opposing its components one to the other, allowing them to coexist. Versatility is an important thing in my life, it brings excitement and opens up possibilities to otherwise a very monotonic lifestyle.
