About Rajae

Born in Morocco in 1984, Rajae Qarrou is a contemporary self-expressionist artist, who lives and operates between Barcelona, Rabat, Paris and Kuwait.

She spent her childhood in Morocco and at the age of 20 years old, she moved to Paris where she graduated in civil engineering at ESTP, Ecole Speciale des Travaux Publics and in Finance at Dauphine University.

She worked as an engineer in the construction sites and became a luxury real estate developer in Paris.

After an event that deeply transformed her perception of life, she decided to leave behind her corporate life in real estate and pursue her authentic self by embracing professionally her love for art.

Since then, she exhibited among other places, in Caroussel du Louvres, Le Grand Palais Ephèmere in Paris, the European Museum of modern art in Barcelona and in Art Basel Miami, in the Red Dot venue.

Artist statement

Like a troubadour, nomadic in a journey around the globe to create art and share it with the world, Rajae Qarrou explores the duality between a punctual melancholy and a bigger picture of happiness in her artworks.

To her, art is a vehicle to nurture sensitivity in a society and to keep a culture in touch with their emotions. Color is her contribution to this world and painting is her truth serum. She says with it things she cannot say with words.

One day few years ago, Rajae felt the need to tell a story, but she didn´t want her story to be public, so she coded it in her paintings.

To her, art becomes interesting when it moves you for reasons words cannot always explain.

Rajae´s art is a pictorial literature that has as protagonists rebellious and daring female figures flourishing against adversity in an explosion of colors.
